Connect bLoyal memberships

Use this to connect ToucanTix to a bLoyal loyalty account so customer purchases can receive loyalty benefits. Set this up before promising members discounts or gift-card payment in the shop.

Before you start

Confirm:

  • you have the bLoyal access key, login domain, and device code for your bLoyal account
  • you have back-office access to Admin > Integrations
  • customer records in ToucanTix are reasonably clean, because matching relies on customer identity

Steps

  1. In the back office, open Admin > Integrations.
  2. In the bLoyal Integration section, enter the Access key, the Login Domain, and the Device Code.
  3. Select Update at the bottom of the page to save.
  4. Where subscriptions are enabled for your account, the section also shows Import subscriptions (or Save and import subscriptions when you have unsaved changes). Select it to import your bLoyal subscriber groups; a message reports Import successful or Import failed.

What the integration does

  • Customer profiles created or updated in ToucanTix are saved to bLoyal, so both systems know the same customer.
  • During checkout, ToucanTix asks bLoyal to calculate the cart, and loyalty discounts and adjusted prices from bLoyal are applied to the order items.
  • bLoyal gift cards can be redeemed as payment. ToucanTix checks the card balance first and redeems at most the available balance, so one order can combine a gift card with another payment method.
  • Imported subscriber groups appear as subscriptions, so membership groups from bLoyal can be used for customer communication.

How customers are matched

ToucanTix identifies the customer in bLoyal by the stored external ID and by first name, last name, and email address. Duplicate or inconsistent customer records are the most common reason a member does not receive a benefit.

Expected result

Customers with a bLoyal membership receive their loyalty pricing during checkout, gift cards can be checked and redeemed as payment, and subscriber groups from bLoyal are available as subscriptions after an import.

Troubleshooting

Membership discount not appliedThe customer's email and name match the bLoyal record, and there is no duplicate customer in ToucanTix.
Gift card is declinedThe card number and the remaining balance in bLoyal; a card with a lower balance is redeemed only up to that balance.
Import failed after importing subscriptionsThe Access key, Login Domain, and Device Code are current, then retry the import.
Saving a customer fails with a uniqueness errorWhether another bLoyal customer already uses the same email address or mobile number.
