Ship merchandise orders

Use this to deliver products that customers buy in the online shop. KORONA Event collects the shipping address at checkout and can add a flat shipping fee. Staff track orders that still need to be sent under Sales > Shipping.

Set up the products first; see Sell merchandise and other products in the online shop.

Before you start

  • You need administrator access to change Shipping settings.
  • Decide on the flat fee to charge per order. KORONA Event adds the shipping fee once per order. It does not calculate rates based on weight, quantity, or destination.
  • Decide which countries you deliver to.

Understand the two keywords

In KORONA.studio, two tags control how a product is shipped. Shipping settings shows the keywords for your account in its notes.

KORONA.studio tagWhat it does
Merchandise keyword (use-as-merchandise)Lists the product in the shop, asks for a shipping address at checkout, and puts the order into the shipping list.
Shipping keyword (requires-shipping)Asks for a shipping address and adds the shipping fee to the order.

A merchandise product without the shipping keyword is shipped without a fee. To charge shipping, give the product both tags.

Set up the shipping fee and delivery countries

  1. In KORONA.studio, create a product for the shipping fee, for example "Shipping", with the fee as its price. Synchronize.
  2. In KORONA.studio, add the shipping keyword to every product that should trigger the fee. Synchronize.
  3. In the KORONA Event back office, open Sales > Shipping and select Shipping settings.
  4. Under Shipping product, select the shipping fee product.
  5. Optional: Under Countries allowed for delivery addresses, select the countries you deliver to. If you leave it blank, customers can enter any country.
  6. Select Update.

When the cart contains a product with the shipping keyword, KORONA Event adds the shipping product once. When the customer removes all of these products, the fee is removed too. In the cart, the fee appears as a Shipping row.

What the customer enters at checkout

When the order must be shipped, checkout requires a Shipping address. If the checkout also shows a billing address, the customer can select Shipping address is the same as billing address or enter a separate one. For the checkout address settings, see Configure the current online shop.

Ship an order

  1. Open Sales > Shipping. The list shows orders with the shipping status Requires shipping.
  2. Check the Payment status column. Only paid items, or items on an issued invoice, can be shipped.
  3. Select the order. The Shipping for order page shows the customer's Shipping address and the Products to be shipped.
  4. Pack and send the products.
  5. Select Mark order as shipped.

The order changes to Shipped, and the products move to Shipped products. KORONA Event creates a delivery note that you can download from Delivery notes to include in the parcel. The delivery note is not emailed to the customer.

To find orders you already sent, filter the list by the Shipped status. If you marked an order by mistake, open it and select Mark order as requiring shipping.
