Report revenue by event and day
- Availability
- Beta
Use this article when finance or a manager asks how much revenue each event generated, per day or per sales channel.
Before you start
- You need permission to view invoices.
- Revenue reports compare gross revenue calculated from invoice and receipt line items. Decide whether that document-based figure is what the recipient expects, or whether they need settled payments — those come from Sales > Documents and your payment provider instead.
- Filters applied to the events list also apply to the report, so set or clear them deliberately.
Steps
- Open Services > Events.
- Select Reports in the list header.
- In Configure Report, set the Metric to Revenue. The Report scope on this list is fixed to Event.
- Select Compare by and choose Booked Date for a per-day split.
- Set the Secondary time interval to Day (or Week, Month, Quarter, Year for coarser grouping).
- Select Generate Report.
- Read the result as Table view, Bar chart, or Pie chart, and export it with Export CSV or Export Excel.
To split the same events by sales channel instead of by day, choose Point of sale or Order channel as the Compare by dimension: each amount is attributed to the point of sale that issued the invoice or receipt, so POS locations and online sales appear as separate rows.
Refunds, cancellations, and free tickets
- The report counts issued documents regardless of payment state. An invoice that is still unpaid, or was later marked as refunded, still appears with its full line value — check payment states in Sales > Documents before treating the total as settled revenue.
- Voided and canceled POS receipts are excluded.
- Free tickets contribute no revenue, so a well-attended free event can show zero here while its attendee report is full.
- Discounts on a line reduce the reported gross value of that line.
Expected result
You have a table of gross revenue per event, split by day or by point of sale, exported as CSV or Excel with the filters and date basis documented.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| No Reports button on the events list | Report availability for your account and your invoice permissions. |
| Totals differ from the payment provider | Payment state, provider fees, refunds, and settlement date versus Booked Date. |
| A day shows revenue but no event took place | Booked Date grouping — sales are counted on the sale date; regroup by Start Time. |
| An event is missing | Active list filters, and whether the event sold through documents in the selected range. |
